It's about old England and Queen Elizabeth. Sounds stuffy but it wasn't. It was GREAT! Have fun reading! And thanks for sharing!

Tales...Blog 10

A group of seniors have been pulled from regular classes to get help from counselors. They resent being labeled as "problems", but they stick together. In his senior year, the main character Karl just wants to be normal and it lasts maybe a day. Interesting, sad, uplifting story that rises above the expectations I had for this book. I am reading another book by the fabulous author John Barnes. Grab it when you get to the high school stacks next year. Must read.

The Help Blog 9

Miss Horst gave me this book as a gift. What a wonderful gift this was because I loved this book. I will read it again! It is a story told from the viewpoint of black "colored" maids in the 1960's, who work for white ladies. It tells the injustices they face in a way that makes you smile and cry at the same time. Wonderful book! Please tell me what you're reading now that you're struck with spring fever! What could be better than opening the doors and windows and reading while listening to the tree frogs and feeling the fresh spring air.

Inkdeath Blog 8

March, finally. New month, new blog. Inkdeath was the final book of the wonderful Inkheart trilogy. How fortunate I was to stumble onto these books. I have a sense, but only a sense of another book in the offing. It seemed to finish, yet I still had a major question about the characters...will they ever get "home?" Please join in and post about your latest reading delight! Oh, I finished a great book called Tales of a Madman Underground, and am reading Incarceron.

The Maze Runner Blog 7

Run, don't walk to get The Maze Runner. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one! James Dashner had better move on that because lots of people are waiting. It's about a young guy who wakes from a black fog in a cage, in another place where he and a group of super fit young men have to find their way out. He becomes the Maze Runner. It is filled with futuristic evil, survival and interesting characters. Great read. Finished City of Glass. Right, Jenn., Sebastian was a key character in the ending of this book! I am reading Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke at the moment, finishing up the last of her wonderful trilogy. Keep reading and enjoying your picks.

City of Ashes, Blog 6

What can I say. I love the character Simon. I never thought that he would become, well, you know...one of THOSE! And then the action that ensues. Now that Jenn A is done with C of Glass, I can hardly wait to get into it and end the mysteries. But like all sequels, it saddens me to end.

You are all reading class novel, The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle; I ask that your response to this post be Jan. 22, the week of MLK Day. You may write about Charlotte Doyle or any other book you're reading. BUT, let's become more mature writers and thinkers. Instead of telling me what it is ABOUT, tell me what you THINK ABOUT the characters, the book, the author's language, the message, the humor, - are there any questions you would like to ask the author? Could you compare this book to any others you have read? You get the idea...STEP IT UP!

Did I love this book as much as Inkheart? Yes, but it was a story all its own about two runaway brothers. Set in Venice, the brothers join a gang of street children who live in an abandoned movie theater and rely on the "stealing skills" of Scipio, the Thief Lord.

Mrs. Lyashenko is reading Inkspell since she just finished with Inkheart. Why not whisper with her on those books! I finished the 4th book in a series by Laurell Hamilton. Ethan's mom whispered to me about these books, and I have enjoyed them very much. Vampires, werewolves again, but with a new twist. Finished audiobook The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code, while I raced around in the car doing errands. All in all, good reads. On to reading City of Ashes...

I hope you can add new books to this post and that you are taking time to read during this busy time. Have you added books to your Christmas list? You may get your a Christmas iPod if you tell your folks HOW MUCH YOU'D LOVE TO LISTEN TO AUDIO BOOKS ON IT!

Inkheart Blog 3

The Inkheart post (number 3) is due Thurs., the 29th, since we don't have school on Friday. Yea!

I'm very pleased at your excitement over your books. I can't believe what I'm going to ask. Could you limit your blogs to no more than 10 lines? I'm afraid people are giving up reading the long ones. So, 6-10 lines, be concise, with just enough detail to tempt us all to read without telling too much. It's a skill, to describe and summarize,--all with just the right amount of pizazz. You can handle that can't ya?

Also, I'm grading down people with mistakes, like capitalizing titles and spelling basic simple words correctly. Give it a quick glance for correctness before you post your comment, ok?

Catching Fire Blog 2

Here it is, a new post. Take time to reflect on a book you are currently reading or have just finished. Tell your thoughts, give exciting details to lure a prospective reader in, but don't reveal the ending. I know...that is hard to do if you're excited about the book!

I finished Catching Fire last week and it was as awesome as Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta have to go up against strong opponents in another round of Hunger Games. I can't wait for the third book to come out! I hope the author has it done soon!

You all have 2 weeks, be done by B Day Friday. I graded you on length, detail, correctness of basic grammar. Check your grades online. Let's get going then...

The Hunger Games Blog 1

I 'm just finishing reading a great book, Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It's set in the future, but is a bad time for people. Since there was a rebellion and lots of wars, the Capitol, or the government decided to punish the people from each district (like states) They had to give up two people between the ages of 12 and 18 to fight in the Hunger Games to the death. At first I thought, how can someone write a book about killing, but it's different. Katniss is a good person who hates it, but will save herself because she has to. I like it that she finally can trust her partner Peeta not to kill her. The question is,does he love her or is it just for the cameras above? I predict she will be a victor. I want her to be a victor, but not a killer.
